  15. 1. Use your keyboard for more efficient editing
  16.  
  17.   * Easier navigation:
  18.     Instead of using the "Control" tool to navigate around your tree, you may 
  19.     find it more easy to use the arrow keys on your keyboard. Use "I" and "O" 
  20.     to zoom in and out.
  21.  
  22.   * Easier item editing: 
  23.     To create a new item, press CTRL+N. Press ENTER to edit the selected item.
  24.     Create links with the following keys: F=Father, M=Mother, L=Marriage.

  26.   * Show/hide tools:
  27.     F7  = Show/Hide Toolbar
  28.     F8  = Show/Hide Control Window
  29.     F10 = Show/Hide Person Browser

  33. 2. Use the "Alt" key for easier navigation

  35.     Press and hold the "Alt" key
  36.   + Press and hold your left mouse button 
  37.   + Move your mouse

  39.   => You will now be able to move the tree canvas in any direction.

  43. 3. Distribute your GenDesigner files to friends and family
  44.  
  45.   * If you have connected pictures and text files to your items, you should use 
  46.     the "Collect all files" feature prior to distributing the .gd2 file. This 
  47.     will collect all the necessary files into one directory, and all links will 
  48.     become dynamic. The "Collect all files" option is in the file menu.

  52. 4. Distribute your GenDesigner tree on the Internet
  53.  
  54.   * The Report/HTML menu option will create HTML pages of your tree. Make sure 
  55.     you generate the pages into an empty directory. When this is done, you can 
  56.     upload all the .html and .jpg files to your homepage area using a file 
  57.     transfer protocol (FTP) utility.

  59.   * When you have uploaded the tree to a web server, submit your URL here:
  60.     http://www.gendesigner.com/listtree.html

  64. 5. Get better HTML results!
  65.  
  66.   * Set your display properties to 16 bit colors (or more) prior to the HTML 
  67.     export. This creates much better pages and pictures. You will find the 
  68.     display properties in the Windows Control Panel.

  70.   * You may also set your Windows system to use "small fonts" to get the 
  71.     best results from your HTML export.

  75. 6. Use the "Alias" feature to make your tree easier to read
  76.   
  77.   * An alias behaves like a shortcut to a file on your computer. It looks like 
  78.     a copy of a person. An alias and its original are two "representatives" of 
  79.     the same person. You may use it when a person appears more than once in a 
  80.     tree. TIP: Try double-clicking an alias.
